Cherry* Chocolate Cake May 9, 2008
If you like chocolate, and you like cake, then you might want to try this recipe out.
What you will need (besides ingredients)
1 electric mixer
1 oven
1 bundt pan
1 pair of oven mitts
Ingredients:
4 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup oil
8oz cherry liqueur*
1 package devils food cake mix
1 package dark chocolate instant pudding
12 ounces cherry chips*
It can be hard to find Cherry chips. There is a store online that sells them, just visit the link below.
Back To The Country Store.
*Note- This doesn’t have to be Cherry!
If you want an Orange Chocolate cake- Use Orange Liqueur, and cut up a Terry’s Chocolate orange in to tiny pieces (roughly around the size of a chocolate chip) and add that instead of Cherry chips.
Raspberry Chocolate cake?- Use Chamboard liqueur instead, and use raspberry extract*** and 12 oz of white chocolate chips Or get a terry’s dark chocolate raspberry orange. (It doesn’t have orange flavor).
Plain old Chocolate Chocolate cake? You can use Kahlua instead, or a chocolate liqueur (the Kahlua is recommended however), and 12 oz of Chocolate chips
*** Try one teaspoon of the extract when mixing, if it doesn’t taste strong enough add another teaspoon, and try again.
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350f.
Grease the bundt pan with butter or Crisco.
Beat eggs, sour cream, water, liqueur and oil together in a large bowl until thoroughly mixed. Add cake mix and pudding mix. Beat until smooth. Stir in cherry chips. Pour into bundt pan
Bake for one hour.
One more thing-
You do not need icing or frosting for this cake. It is going to be very rich, and very sweet. If you must decorate it, I suggest something light, like rainbow sprinkles on the top.
